Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our permit consulting services

Have questions about Seattle's permitting process? We've compiled answers to the most common questions we receive from contractors. If you don't see your question here, feel free to contact us.

We specialize in helping contractors navigate the City of Seattle's permitting process. From street use permits to side sewer applications, we handle paperwork, coordinate with reviewers, and track approvals so you can focus on building.

The permitting process in Seattle has shifted online in recent years, making it time-consuming and confusing. We save you time, reduce frustration, and ensure applications are submitted correctly the first time.

Many experienced contractors don't want to learn the new online systems, while newer contractors may be unfamiliar with what street work requires a permit. Either way, we're here to help.

We prepare and submit a wide range of permits and documents, including:

  • Street Use & ROW Construction Permits (for staging, scaffolding, safety buffers, etc.)
  • Minor Utility Permits (sewer, drainage, power connections with minimal street/sidewalk impact)
  • SPU Side Sewer Permits (installation, repairs, abandonment, groundwater removal)
  • No Parking Notices (paid and non-paid zones for construction activity, deliveries, or events)
  • Water Meter Applications (new connections or service changes)
  • Water Availability Certificates (WAC)
  • Right-of-Way Impact Plans (ROWIP)
  • Traffic Control Plans (TCP)
  • Permit Revisions & Extensions

Processing times vary depending on the City of Seattle's workload and permit type. For the City of Seattle, the current average timeframe for a full street use permit review is 5-6 weeks, and potentially 6 weeks for a Corrections Review.

These timeframes are affected by the number of permit applications submitted, current review agency staffing levels, and several priority category options (safety emergency, affordable housing projects, etc.).

We submit your application within 48 hours of receiving all required information from you, ensuring the fastest possible start to the review process.

Permit fees are set by the City of Seattle and vary by permit type and areas of use. Our service fees cover application preparation, submission, and communication with reviewers. The Permit Issuance Fees and Inspection Fees are the responsibility of the contractor.
